David Barrington joined Manchester Student Homes in 2022 as the Off-Campus Student Affairs Officer. David’s focus is on identifying and responding to challenges and opportunities that arise from students living in the community. The role is jointly-funded by The University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University and allows her to work across off-campus areas in Manchester, with various stakeholders such as community members, the Police, the City Council, the NHS, the Fire Services and students themselves. David leads the Good Neighbours Team which deliver campaigns, events and activities throughout the year to encourage student engagement in the community and awareness of key issues. David is also the North West representative for the UK Town and Gown Association.

His primary background prior to this role was within the housing and support sectors, and worked for 10+ years for a large housing association within various teams. He has experience in community engagement and cohesion, anti-social behaviour (ASB), housing management, enforcement, and supporting residents to overcome personal and community issues that they face. In recent years he has worked for The University of Bolton focusing on Student Wellbeing. Engaging students, colleagues and community partners to improve the mental health and wellbeing of students, and the experiences they have as part of their studies and as a community member.
