Lesley Caldwell

Community Engagement and Social Responsibility Officer
The University of St Andrews

Very quickly after finishing a BA (Hons) degree in Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee, Lesley ‘fell’ into work in the charitable sector. Over the following thirteen years, she worked in local and national charities across Scotland running a wide range or projects and initiatives including a national environmental festival, managing region wide community projects, supporting and developing youth volunteering as well as business development for a volunteering charity. A decision in early 2019 saw her look to develop her skills in a completely different sector and her appointment in a brand-new role at the University of St Andrews was made.

The University of St Andrews has made a prominent commitment to supporting local businesses, communicating transparently, engaging with our local, national and international communities, and working for the benefit of wider society wherever possible. In her role as Community Engagement and Social Responsibility Officer for the University, Lesley supports her colleagues to turn this commitment into tangible, and proactive initiatives and opportunities. She works closely with numerous departments across the University and supports town and gown relations by representing the University on a number of boards across the community.
