The value of UKTGA membership
What is the United Kingdom Town and Gown Association (UKTGA)?
The UK Town and Gown Association (UKTGA) strengthens town and gown partnerships by providing a network of over many off-campus practitioners and resources, identifying and sharing leading practices, innovative solutions, and creative opportunities within off-campus communities and their supporters.
We work closely with the US-based International Town and Gown Association (ITGA) to ensure a truly global approach to off-campus management.
The Role of the UKTGA is to:
- Focus on off-campus living for students and its impact on broader communities
- Create key off campus campaigns to enhance the student experience
- Assist with academic research
- Collate a regional key contacts/stakeholders list
- Serve on committees or task forces and take on special assignments relating to off campus themes
Why join the UKTGA?
- Professional support. Our professional network offers expert support on a host of town and gown issues across a diversity of towns and cities across the UK. Throughout the academic year, we organise regular professional development through our webinar programming, bringing together a host of experts from the town and gown spaces. Our jisc email network allows members to make new connections and strengthen existing ones as well. Our bi-annual conference brings together academics, council members, student support workers, and many more!
- Expand your knowledge and perspectives. Membership with UKTGA ensures we never stop learning and growing, together. UKTGA offers regular webinars and training that include leading practices, case studies, new campus developments, and much more! Our group ranges from seasoned veterans to excited newcomers, all with unique perspectives that are shared in our community of Off-Campus Practitioners! We want to hear your perspective as well!
- Have your work celebrated. We are a platform for holding up and celebrating work from our esteemed members. We do this through jisc mail and shout-outs at meetings. Starting with our 2024 conference, we will begin highlighting the work of our university and town partners through a prestigious award programme.
